Default Heads for a 231/237.

I have a 231/237 and I'm just curious what heads people run with this cam and what type of results they achieve. I know this cam is pretty old but I think a set of heads should satisfy me for a while.

i remember reading GMHTP back in the day. they did that TSP 231/237 cam with some patriot stage 2 LS6 heads and made good power. i think the patriots LS6 picked up 40rwhp on top of that cam.

As popular as this cam was back then it seems someone would have added a set of heads to it. I've searched but the search engine isn't all that great.

We've done numerous installs with that camshaft and similar with the PRC Stage 2.5 LS6's and 5.3's. Both will clear without flycutting the pistons. The 5.3L heads will give you a nice bump in compression without having to mill the heads though, which is nice! However, with that camshaft, you can mill the LS6 heads a bit to help on the compression side of things without having to worry about piston to valve clearance. It comes down to budget for alot of people, since the 5.3L's are about $1200, compared to the LS6's at about $1500.

TSP 231/237 here with Patriot STG2 5.3 heads. I believe that it was around 360hp but that was through the th400 soooo.. If I remember right it was around 415hp when I had the M6 still in the car give or take.

11.8's - 11.9's with that combo NA for me though. Still a lot left on the table I think but my car is heavy.

Quick Reply: Heads for a 231/237.
