How high can you safely rev a stock LS6 longblock?
The stock rev limit is 6600 RPM for a stock LS6 longblock. I've since swapped the cam/valve springs (Patriot Gold duals) and now my peak power now occurs at 6600 RPM. I need to raise the rev limiter to be able optimize my shift points, if it's safe to do so.

Just so you knows this is coming from a semi-rich kid whos mom bought him and paid for him to build that 465rwhp z06 so engine failure wasnt an issue. having built the current engine in my firebird i would say 7000rpm. That's what im spining to without worrying about. Any engine with 241 heads (late 2000) had the upgraded rod bolts (with the ferrules) which are good to 6900 plus especially with the ls6 with the sodium filled valves (lighter)

LS6 (Z06) longblock (243 heads, sodium valves, etc.)
I wanted to set the rev limiter near 7000 RPM so I can shift 6800-6900. I keep hearing that you should shift roughly 500 RPM past peak power, but that brings me closer to 7000-7100, which is too high IMO.

What I will say is this, LS6 blocks tend to be the lightest and strongest of GM stock which does promote RPM, but 7k is pushing it and that is taking life out of the motor when its ran on the ragged edge all the time.
Just be aware the possiblity of it puking. There are are thousands of LSX motors out there and you will get some that do live, that shouldnt and some that should have popping after 10 miles and driving it nicely, it can all vary.
Unless I am running a donkey dick cam needing the RPM a LS6 does quite well in the 6,000 to 6,500 rpm range
