There very strong motors, ive heard of them lasting pretty long, some people even do heads and cam at that mileage.

I've got 150,000 on mine... clocks still ticking, and the heart's still beating... hard.

chevy overbuilt this engine by about a ratio 10. 6 bolt main, super strong cylinder head clamping etc.. they are very strong.

have 160,000 on my 4.8 in my truck (nitrous and cam on stock block for 100,000 miles..)

so I can attest they are hardy.

Got 160,000 on mine, shes still running strong, had to fix a few leaks etc... but it still makes good power. Ran 13.5 @ 105 on stock everything.

haha thats great ^

The thing with these motors is that they are VERY stout, but the actual lifespan is really going to depend on how well the motor is maintained. I bought mine with 92k on the clock and im about to hit 100k, and im gonna be doing heads/cam/n2o pretty soon too. 118k would def not turn me away, as long as the motor sounds good, has good oil pressure, idles smooth, etc etc, I would have total confidence. Ive seen alot of people hitting 200k without a rebuild, a few get to 300k, and I think there was one guy on here who hit 400k. Take care of the motor and it will take care of you.

yeah, its a BIG puddle alright. Our LS1 fbody is a bottom feeder of air. If you make enough splash under your car, water going towards the air filter your LS1 will choke and go broke.

The story is someone we know drove their Car into a flooded road, and disaster hit. It was deeper then they thought, there was a bad rain storm here one day.

I went threw a alot of huge puddles on the sides of a road when it started to flood with my car and was lucky i guess. I never even thought about hydro locking it! the puddles where big enought to splash over the curb and pull the car around but i drove threw it slow if i remember.

correct me if i am wrong but i thought that was one of the weak points for big power with only 4 bolts per cylinder

Yeah, you are correct - it is better to have 6 bolts per head. LSX block can use 6 bolts per cylinder .
