Buying a '00 SS w/ Lingenfelter 350 pacakage...Input?
I am thinking of buying a 00 ss with the 350 Lingenfelter performance package already on it. It has 50k on the body, and 20k on the engine after the rebuild. It obviously has the 420 crank hp and comes down to 340 whp, after the 17% loss of power. He is asking 19,000 for it and was wondering what you all think about this deal.
It also has hotchkis A arms, Borla adjustable catback, flp lts, y pipe, 17 y2k's, bilstien shocks, and is a MANUAL 6 SPEED.
I am sure I will buy it as I am going to see it this coming week, but I just wanted to get some input from yall.

420 crank hp? 340 at the wheels? sounds like a bolt on car, stock internals... and the loss for an M6 is about 13%, and an A4 is about 16%...

...what was included in the LPE package; it sounds like headers, a cam and a lid ...?
420HP at the flywheel equals 357RWHP assuming a 17% power train loss...
...historically, buyers have not paid a premium for cars that have performance modifications - in fact, they usually command NO additional premium over a stock car with the same mileage...
Advice - bid very low and hope he takes it tell him your really interested in a stock car because it potentially has collector value...chances are he will have a tough time selling the car with those mods anyway...

If this car actually had the LPE 350 CID kit then it has heads & cam. With the FLPs it should put down between 400-420 to the wheels. Get some specifics on what has been done to the car.

Well I am a total jackass. I emailed him about the 340 figure and he said that his ad said 375 and has dyno sheets. So I looked back at the ad and damn straight thats what it said. When he had it done at Lingenfelters it put down 375 whp on the dyno, and he added the lts after the fact.
As for price, what would yall suggest to be a good offer? it retails blue book at

19 grand is alot bud. That guy is tossing your salad, buy one at like 12 grand, and build it your self, alittle grease never hurt no one, you might learn something. 340 rwhp, is pretty good, but who the hell cares!? I think people keep forgeting it is all about torque, hp is just a product of speed. Take care man

its actually 400+ with the lts. And the car blue books at 18,700. I am going to offer him 17,000 and hopefully he takes it, if not I am sure we will end up at 18.

I think 18k is fair for that amount of modification done to it. I wouldn't let my car go for less than 22k and it has 30k miles on it. He could sell the car stock for 16k and sell the parts seperatley for at least 2k between the rims, exhaust, heads.
