Default ls6 valvesprings with mild cam?

Mustangs are slow and get owned by ls1's with not **** done. Good luck getting them around a corner too. IRS HAHAHAH, forget the blower boy's all motor is for the men on the block. **** maybe if you stick a few more valves in the heads you might get some more power or not.

Have the Yellow GM ls6 valvesprings currently installed on a 99 LS1 and would like to go with a small cam. What do you guy's think will work. Thanks Paul

probably, 01 LS6 springs supported lift right around .550, and I believe the 02-04 year springs supported .580

i would go PAC1218s. not worth the risk.

The yellow springs are 2002/2004 LS6 springs rated at .570 lift.My question is why would you waste the time/money to install a cam that will give no real noticeable improvement in performance?

Why such a small cam? I'm new to LS1's and have gone through many of the posts/dyno graphs/quarter mile times and everything I can read about LS1/LS2's and I dont want to overcam, I know this is a small cam and this cam is going in my sons car so its not even mine but with a 24K 1999 Z-28 again sons and he did all the research and testing his car has a Yank 3600SS an Slp lid and headers and ORY pipe and tune by Kirt Urban he also runs Nitto 555's his car has repeatedly run 12;35@111 this is with an untouched engine other than above, we did install the springs with the cam upgrade in mind, the goal with the car is 11;99. The small cam on the dyno tests we have seen outperforms the stockcam from Idle to Redline (Torque&Horsepower) with no problem it is a win win situation, with the larger cams you give up bottom end to gain top end then you have to convter/gear the car to compensate, were not really worried about Dyno numbers /big MPH or choppy loping Idle,were looking for ET and Torque/driveabilty with a 323 geared daily driver.Another thing we've found is with smaller camshafts (again not LS1) in some of our Purestock Motors is putting camshafts in retarded bleeds off some of the bottom end ( moves powerband)and gives it too us upstairs making the motor dance a little harder upstairs and still giving us a stronger horsepower average across the boards.

We may end up being wrong in the end, many of you guys have some screeming combos that run very strong and much of the info on this site has been so valuable so I'm just rookie here and appricate all the impute you guys have provided. Thanks Paul

Ive seen a few guys trying a 218/224 XFI cam. Sounds interesting to me and would probably suit you down to a tee but you'd need better springs for that one.

if you already have a 3600 stall then you should run at least a 224 cam. you dont have to worry about losing bottom in bc the stall will keep you where you need to be. i would look into a 224 or 228 cam with PAC 1218s and you should crush your goal of 11.99.

edit: also i will throw in that i run a tr224 114 with a 3200 stall and its the perfect DD with very good manners and power available from any rpm and any speed. i have heard without the stall the 224s will bog a little down low but you dont have to worry about that.

i ran a vinci 220/224 551 cam on the green yellow striped spings"same as yellow" for over a year..those springs will handle alot of abuse.,..

i used yellow zo6 springs on my dads cammed car. the cam is a comp xer 224 230 581 592 on a 114 lsa. so far we put about 8000k miles and a track vist and yet to see a problem.
