Default Recommended PR length with F13 ?

I have seen people run 7.40 and 7.425, what is the best length to run? Or what is the proper length? any help would be great, thanks in advance.

stock length is 7.4 , but some people run 7.425 to get a little extra preload.

Thats odd. I just ordered an F13 and they told to get the 7.4's for stock heads. I got their FMS Chrome-Moly Hardened 5/16" Push Rods 7.400" (stock length).

Well, if it makes any difference I will be using ported 241's. I am going to try and call FMS tomorrow and see what they say.

"You can run the stock length 7.400" or a 7.425" to make the valvetrain a little quieter. Either pushrod will make the same power.

Thanks,Allan"

from my email. guess either is good!

What your not taking into consideration is the smaller base circle of the new cam. Using the 7.425s will help make up for that loss in pre-load. On XE-R grinds the base circle is ~.050 smaller (not sure about cam motion lobes). So on paper the 7.425s is what you would want with an XE-R profile.

However, I do recall the actual stock push rods that are said to be 7.400s, and the aftermarket units that are said to be 7.400s, differing in actual length when I measured them with my calipers a few yrs back. I wish I remembered which one was longer as that will play a role in which length to get to keep the pre-load the same as stock.

I use 7.4's with the FM13. They're just about perfect.

I've went as far to use 7.4's with .020 chopped off a 5.3 head, and the car made a TON of power.

All I know is that my pushrod length measured right at 7.400 with .100 worth on preload on my Comp LSL lobed cam. 7.425 would have been too deep IMO.
