Default what i hear everytime i crank my car

i previously posted this in the external engine section but felt that it was proper to post here. note:this isnt just when i crank it, it is whenever the engine is running, hot cold no matter what. now im thinking that it may be a lifter(s). so if anyone else ever had this-please share!

sounds like a lifter or two, no matter what you still gotta pull it apart...

yeah-instead of spending money to get it checked out id rather use the money towards parts to fix it. so hopefully someone can tell me what it is. if noone knows-then it might go to the shop and spend some money to get it checked out.

sounds like a collapsed lifter, I have the same issue with mine where in certain situations I have a lifter deflate a bit on me. It's enough to cause that slap sound.

try running a thicker oil, or just tossing in some oil thickener like stop leak and see if that affects the sound.

Depends on how bad the lifter is and how hard you drove the car. I didnt drive mine for 2 weeks unil my 110 mile drive home becasue I did not want to risk anything.

I have a friend whos SS just started ticking, so in a few weeks Im probably gonna take the vavle covers off and check somethings out

i am praying my cam is ok! i can afford a cam but idk about getting it installed! i would try myself but too much of a risk for a first timer with no supervision on a dd.
