918 springs
I am planning on a cam swap, my new cam spec are .595/.590 and 230/228.
I have a set of 918 springs but I seen there max lift is .600.
Do you think I willl be ok being that close to the max limit?
Will it just wear them out faster?

Youll be fine. As long as they are the new grey ones and not the old blue stripes. The new ones are rated to .625" lift. Your under the rated safety window for the springs.
Just dont throw 1.8 rockers on or anything. Ive run them to .625" lift on many engines Ive put together, but I checked coil bind height on each "just" to make sure.

The 918 springs I have, do have the blue stirpe on them.
I bought a set of heads and them came with a new set of spring (not installed), they are a little shorter then the 918 and have a green stripe and are a lot stiffer then the 918. But the pervious owner did not know what brand they are.
I have thought about useing them but I don't know what they are

All the green stripe springs Ive seen have been GM pieces, Ive removed many of them off of stock heads, and they have all been shorter.
The blue stripes are the ones that potentially have issues and I have no way to tell you if you have some of the lucky ones or not. There were probably 1,000,000 great ones and a few batches of bad ones.
The blue stripes are also the ones rated to .600". Its going to be your call no matter what any single person on here tells you. Its just your situation.

lol comp was supposed to fix the problem with the breaking 918s when they came out with the blue stripe springs... if it were me id just avoid it all together because next year they'll come out with a purple spring to fix the gray spring... history seems to be repeating itself with the 918's. with .600 lift id just go ahead and go dual springs and drive worry free... if you were going to run a .580 lift 224 cam and you already own the 918's maybe use them.. but .600 lift is asking for trouble on the 918's...

PAC-1218 are the exact same springs (the wire and geometry) as the old 918's before PAC stopped making springs for Comp. If you are real ****, PAC offers a nitrided and polished version for superior fatigue life (PAC-1518). With the 1518s; .600" lift, stock rockers, and 7k RPMs is no problem.
