Best Cam with stock-heads,ExManifolds and tuning
Will be running stock heads and manifolds with this cam. May get tuning down the road. I have an A4 so i know i will have to drill the TB. Im thinkng the LS6 or the GM hot cam. cost is VERY important but so is power. Anyone know what will work best for me??

Boomcase, there is a new Trooper Cam
"Trooper Cam II
Specs: 208/222 .560/.579 115 LSA (no advance or retard built-in)
This custom grind Comp Cam is patterned after the Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam, but with a very slightly longer duration and a tighter LSA (115 vs 118.5)."
as posted by XTrooper himself.
Sounds better to me than the LPE cam

You should sit down and think about what you want for driving characteristics also. The Hotcam and the LS6 cma are very different, hotcam has a pretty radical idle, LS6 is pretty tame. Not sure where this + 50 RWHP number is coming from, I think through manifolds it will be more in the neighborhood of 20-25 RWHP gain, lil more with LS6 intake.

I dont mind radical at all. My shift extension on my converter is 4700rpms. So i would like to see an increase around there. The ls6 cam comes alive around 4800 to5000 and the hot cam is higher, I think. I dont want the car to shake and shutter that much. Hope this helps. Tony

Here's the graph. Key to seeing the ~50rwhp gain is looking at the area under the curve at the end of the graph. Peak to peak it's ~23 or so
See the link for detailed discussion and comments on the ~50rwhp gain over the LS1 cam in the upper rpms.

It's an excellent thread
I think if one winds the LS6 out it really shines for the size cam it is.

Every car is different. With the Comp 216/220 114 LSA, I only got 297rwhp. WOT A/F was tuned to 12.8. Could be losing thru the converter. However, it drives good and has good low-mid torque.

Well after reading 1000's of posts and seeing around 100 dynos i have decided on a TR220 on a 114LSA. The main reason- At 5Krpm it seems this cam is almost at peak Hp. Thats with shorties on 4 of the dynos i saw. I have been looking for a cam that is good around 5k for an A4. Most of the LS6 cams power is from 5500 to 6k which is too high for my Converter to take advantage of. Plus the TR220 has a much bigger upside if i get some longtubes down the road or even tuning
