5.3 vs 5.7
this might sound stupid but what all is the difference between a 5.3 truck motor and the 5.7 that comes in the 2000 z28, is the 5.3 still an ls1 and what do you think the power difference is between the two

327 vs 346. So almost 20cu inches. Less hp, less tq, more weight. I am unsure right now but i think they are the same stroke but the bore is smaller in the 5.3 witch is what makes it a 5.3.

Many 5.3 engines are aluminum, so weight is the same (iron is about 65lbs heavier). The acc and pulleys, intake and manifolds are different than the Camaro and Corvette, but it is the same block so everything will bolt up. The pulleys will need to be changed if you want to run a LS1/6 intake but the truck intake is almost as good as the LS6 and much better than the ls1. With a proper cam swap, 400hp is not unreasonable in fact if you look for a L33 out of a 2005 or newer short bed crew cab Silverado (8th digit of the VIN is a B) it comes with 799 or 243 heads (same thing) and with a minor cam swap (baby cam or Z06) 375-400 almost guaranteed. Mod for mod expect about a 7-10% decrease in HP with the 5.3 over the 5.7.
Hope that helps.

The 5.3 truck motors are LS engines, so they should be the same block. The mounts may be a little different, but everything should be interchangeable otherwise. The LS1 has a bore X stroke of 3.90X3.62, whereas the 5.3 has a 3.78X3.62. That can be bored into an LS1.
