Am I getting beat up on this deal??
I was wondering is 5400-5500 dollars was good for install and parts for a forged 346 shortblock. This would include all the install and machine work required, the pistons, rods, and all the bearings and rings...seals...etc. for the install.
This also includes install on my stage 2 heads, oil pump, rockers, timing chain, lifters, asp pulley, cam, pushrods..
Let me know...I need to make a decision very soon on what to do.
The internals are being done to accomodate a 150 shot of nitrous.

Yeah...it is a little high I think. That is with the stock crank. With $1575 in parts....$395 in tuning....Atleast $3400 in install. It is 2500 for a motor swap...the rest of the $3400 is machine work (honing, balancing, etc.)
I just got a quote from Thunder...and it was $4500 for the same work.
Don't know what I should do.
I don't have $4500 right now much less $5500. Is the forged internals totally necessary for a jettable kit 75-150 of nitrous?? Can I not spray 150 wet safely with a in tank fuel pump...and rod bolts?
What if I skip the internals...can I spray 50-100 and be ok???
Thanks for the feedback guys....I really appreciate it!!!

If you are going into the engine, at least do forged pistons. Stock rods will be okay at your 75-150 hp nitrous levels, they should handle 500-550 rwhp without much issue.
You could spray a 100 shot on a stock engine for quite a while without any problems. Just make sure you have a window switch and never spray below 3K rpm or beyond your rpm limiter.

I don't think you are getting ripped off but you are not getting a smokin' deal either. I am wrapping up my forged 346 project as well only difference is I am doing of the install work myself. My parts list is this:
Forged Pistons/w rings: 550
Forged rods: 480
Bearings: 150
ARP head studs: 180
ARP main studs: 140
Cometic Gaskets: 100(didn't work because of the notch)
Timing Chain: 180(ya ya spent too much)
Oil Pump: 150
Total: 1930(just going off memory)
Then I took the block and rotating assembly to a reputable machine shop and had the works done. Spared no expense...could have but figured I would let them do it right instead of taking my chance with all of the tolerances.
Machine work: 1400-1600(can't remember exactly)
Total payout: 3500 or there abouts
Assembly and install: Priceless....did it my self.
So maybe I spent too much here and there but I took my time and spent my pennies were I could. Don't worry too much about it and hopefully they do a bangup job for you and you can be burning up the 1320 soon.
