Default Tapping, ticking sound.

I know most would say lifter or rocker coming apart...heres the deal. Never noticed this until a few days after I did an oil change w/ penn. platinum. It makes the tap/tick after driving awhile when the cars warm. I had a friend tear into the car and everything looks good. Im not exactly sure what weight I used before but he reccomended that it might be the oil(something about companies sometimes making the syn. oils to thin). I have a amsoil race syn. going in today. How many think this might be the problem?

i had a noise coming from mine it was stronger under the car and kinda sounded like a exhaust leak , everyone told me piston slap , bent valve , broke rocker collapsed lifter i dont head cam lifter swap and it still done it i finally got tired of listening it and tore it apart and found the #7 rod bearing wore out and loose. mine was noticable when there was a slight change in rpms idleing down or holding steading sometimes but not in the upper range or at idle

Interesting..the sound is near the rear of the engine.

Last oil change I used a fram filter...did a search and was reading that they only flow half as good as the other brands...Could that be a possibility?

This is really ironic, because i changed my engine to penz platinum also and the tick started to occur, i then went to Royal Purple to than find out that its complete garbage, so i went back to Mobil 1 with an additive. The tick noise quieted down a little bit. But i have a bad tick noise in my engine, seems like its coming from the left side (if your looking under the hood) valve cover. IDK what it is maybe lifter/rocker... Sorry to hijack your thread didnt mean to
