aluminum or iron?
okay so im lookin at either getting a aluminum 383 ls1/ls6 stroker motor or a 6.0 iron block 408....i know the 408 will make more power but i was just lookin for some input on what you guys would do? i have to run a ls6 intake and patriot stage 2 heads that flow 296 at 600 lift. i know iron will make more power but it will also be heavier.....just lookin for some all around performance and that includes handling power and also looking for axhaust tone.....i figure some people went with one and maybe wish they did the other......anyone and everyone who is willing to share their opinion, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

You will more than likely make more power with the MS4 and a set of TFS or AFR heads than you will with the 383 you described... Depending on if you mill the heads or not, you may have to flycut, where as if you ran a 383 you could get pistons with proper valve reliefs and be good.
I would do an iron 408, though.

The added power will more than make up for the extra 80lbs that the iron block weighs over the ls1.
You can also pick up a set of bad *** prc heads like these. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=697&catid=40
Just ask them to set you up with a 408 with prc ls3 heads. I bet you could make well over 500hp.

nice numbers 9seconds........the only problem is im on a budget of 6k and i really cant go a dime over....need a new timing chain/oilpump/gaskets/cam/gas to pick it up/motor....da da da.....i did all the math without heads or intake and it came to like 5900 after tax......so yea ill do heads but its gonna have to wait a year. for now the 296 flow rate heads and ls6 intake is gonna have to do....so with that being said any idea on the whp ill be puttin down with the auto for 383 and then the 408? and is that iron block going to be 100% compatable? thanks guys
