Default 112 or 114

Well, I will be ordering a cam on the 15th, so I'm in need of some recommendations. I have been told before that the tr224 114 was my best bet. This is my daily driver. I take extreme care of it and all i'm asking is for realiability and more power. I do not take my car to the drag strip. As for springs and all that stuff please let me know what to buy and replace when putting in a cam.

Money is not a issue, if that helps.

112 or 114 what will be the difference on a 224/224

I live in TX so I guess emmissions isn't a big deal as far as I noticed.

Thanks.

The 114 will sound more stocklike...112 will sound more mean. With a tune either one are good street cams. I have a baby cam on a 114 (212 / 114), so I know what its like. If I had the choice, Id go 112.

awesome thanks, any specific 224/224 you recommend by brand // TSP? TR?

Can the cam be tuned by a mail-in tune or dyno only?

Single or dual springs?? and are the titanium retainers recommended?

This will be my first cam

i would suggest street or dyno tune because a mail in is basically just to get the car running. and for a 224 single springs will be fine don't forget pushrods to.

here is a direct link that includes a camshaft (your choice) pushrods, dual or single springs, valve stem seals and retainers. Great price for everything included! the 1st 2 selections at the top is the only 2 you should be looking at. 1st one is $599.99 with single springs and the 2nd one is 719.99 with dual springs and stem seals and retainers included and as far as lsa is concerned i will get you an article on that explaining everything. I just got to find it right quick

Yeah I would do that cam on a 112. I would stay away from comp 918's and go with PAC 1218's. They make a top quality product in every application. They supplied Comp before Comp started having the 918 failures.

either get it on 112 or go alittle bigger...tr230. I had the tr224/112 in my camaro, and I wish I went alittle bigger. Drove JUST like stock after the tune, just had more power. I really liked the cam, I was just power hunger...its never enough.

TR230=

i would say anywhere from 224/224 -228/228 is good enough for a daily street car. Besides u never go to the track so thats good enough. If you want it to sound like stock then 114 lsa or sound mean 112 lsa. Do you always drive fast? do you cruise most of the time and nail it ocassionally?

My buddy has the tr224 on a 114. It made 405 rwhp on Futral's dyno with a set of ported 241's. It had a little lope to it until my buddy told Futral to raise the desired idle so it could be a sleeper with no lope. As far as springs the ones that came on his heads were Manley Nextek's and they ended up wearing out. We called Thunder since it was their cam and Geoff was working there at the time recommended Patriot Gold's. Those are on his car now and have been working great. Geoff has his own shop now at www.engpwrsys.com

Theres nothing wrong with 918s anymore. They have been 100% redesigned, I run them personally and have run them in 5-10 other engines, beat the living hell out of them, without an issue.
