Default Oil pickup tube bolt HELP!

can anyone help me out, i cant get that oil pump pickup tube bolt back on at all. im in the middle of a heads/cam swap... i lowered the pan a good 1/2 inch and i still cant fit that bolt through. can anyone plz help me out Thanks!

I am about to do the same thing...go to www.LS1howto.com and read the write ups. Take your time and make sure that the rubber o-ring is not pinched...I have never done it before myself, I will be watching to see what others say

that actiually i the guide i am following... but its like they overlooked how difficult it is to put that bolt back in unless you have SUPER skinny fingers! if anyone can help me out id appreciate it!

BTW on ls1howto.com in the picture shown the pick up tube bolt is on the left, mine is on the right....

I wrapped that damn little bolt with a strand of electrical wire, just stiff enough to I could guide the bolt into place and so I wouldnt drop the bolt into the pan!

Once i got the bolt started, i removed the wire and finished the job.

Patience is the key.

+1 on using a small piece of wire on the bolt! That is absolutely the ONLY easy way to get it back in there!

how would you use the wire? sounds like pretty much the only way...

you would kinda have to wrap it around the bolt.

even with it wrapped with wire, for me i cant even really get my finger in there.

you got a friend with small hands? that what i had to do on mine, we did the wire and i had a friend with small hands do it.

I know its too late now, but I had to use a ratcheting wrench and the wire wire trick. I just got done with my HCI 3 days ago. Once u have that oil pump thing done its down hill just dont get in a hurry.

its like you need anorexic fingers or some **** lol. but i just used a magnetic pen to hold the bolt in place while i thread it with my pointer finger... im hoping thats my last time doing an oil pump
