Default LS1 Cam Gear, Cam Swap

I am going to be doing my cam swap this week, I haven't done a cam swap yet so this will be a good learning experience.

I currently have a stock timing set with a LS2 timing chain, the new cam I am getting is a 113LSA+4. Will I be able to degree the cam with the stock cam gear? If so how? Or do I need to look at getting an adjustable timing set?

Thanks.

that cam has the advance already ground into it. You cannot degree with the factory timing set as it is keyed to go on only one way.

yes, they are dots actually, cam (top) dot will be at 6 o clock and crank (bottom) dot will be at 12 o clock. Some here will tell you that you should degree the cam.

In order for me to be able to degree the cam I would need to get an adjustable timing set correct?
