Question Any Good Replacement Springs for the CC 941s?

I have two years and about 8000 miles on my Agostino Racing Stage II heads with Comp Cam 941 springs. No problems yet.

The 941s have a history of failure and I would like to replace them with a more reliable single spring or better yet a double spring.

What are my options without pulling and remachining the heads?

Thank You

I have the earlier version of the Agostino heads with the narrower (??) valve stems.

I hope the 921s are the answer, will they fit?

Bloody hope so thats what I am replacing my 941s with dont believe there are any issues the new 26921 come as a kit complete with retainers and are supposed to be drop in duals with no machining.

The 921 kit costs about $575 plus labor.

I wish there was a less expensive solution.

Will they fit in our heads?

Try the new Crane dual springs. They drop in the stock spring pocket wihtout machining, and in all the stuff I've read and my own experience everyone loves them and hasn't had any trouble with them.

I had ARE Stage II heads and broke a comp cam 941 spring. This happened 1 1/2 years ago. I looked into replacements and not much was available.

My ARE heads had 2.08 X 1.60 valves. Some of the replacement options at the time (that required no machine work on the heads) were:

***Comp Cams 26918 - would not work - the retainer would not work with the large valves.

***K-Motion - these would work but I would not trust them

Currently there are several "drop-in" dual springs that MAY work. It will depend on your valve size. Maybe one of these will work.

I would call Thunder Racing and ask them.

Hope this helps.

The 921 is a very good spring, it's expensive cause it comes with seals locators, ti. retainers. Everything you need and it is a drop in replacement.

TEA Brent:

Will it work with the 2.08 x 1.60 valves?

There will be at least 2 new drop in spring assemblies to come out after PRI in December.

I am going to contact Agostino to find out which size valves I have, does it matter?

I'm wonder what kind of springs i have they were cheap i spose.

They look like a normal spring, but theres a flat (as in width = very thin) spring that is at a different curvature sitting inside the spring.

Like someone stuck a spring-shaped washer inside the spring, with no apparent markings of welding or direct connection.

It doesnt look like the springs you guys have ever posted pics of. the force of the wind of this spring seems to be whats holding it inside the main outer spring which is as i said like a normal spring.

you need to measure the valve stem diameter. If they are 8-mm valves, then you can use any LS1 spring out there. If they were larger (don't recall the size they used) then you are limited to a 941 style spring as other retainers won't work with your valve
