yes take your shop towels / rags and tape them up tight . (perferable shop towels not saturated in oil ) and for safteys sake if you want spray your pistons with brake cleaner it will come off in your next oil change and not harm your engine to take any detionation/ carbon off your cylinderswe do it to all are drag cars here in the shop . take your time and you will have a wicked ls1 Good luck and Happy modding

Did you mill the heads ?? I'd mill them just a bit at least to make the most of them. Unmilled you gain 20 rwhp I think, milled you might gain 30.....Not sure on that, maybe someone else can chime in that knows for sure.

I wanted to get them milled but im tight on cash and im not sure how much that wld cost but im planing on having tea port them and install a nice cam and intake in about a year or so, so im not to woried about it. i know it would pick up some extra power though.

Not sure where you are located, but in my neck of the woods exposed cylinders not coated in oil will rust in a matter of hours. I usually keep the cylinders coated in oil while the heads are off. Covered and taped will help as well.
