Default polished Patriot's, decent power?

I just got my PP 5.3's in last week, and I was wondering if getting them hand polished additionally, would be worthwhile.
A friend of mine's engine builder says he can polish them up where there are no CNC cut mark things left, and all nice and smooth for $150
Anyone done this in addition to the standard CNC'ing, and seen good results?
Or theoretically, could I see a good increase?

I'd save that money for something else. There wouldn't be enough gain to justify the expense.

i believe the cnc marks should be left in there to help mix the fuel mist and air. if you compare the exhuast ports to the intake ones, youll see the exhuast ports are much smoother which is better

The intakes are fine with some "ridges" in them. I would save my $150 for a ported TB or a used ASP pulley.. or even use it to take some of the other Bama guys to Hooter's

Make sure he is really an expert at polishing and knows what he's doing. It's very easy to polish in a divit that hurts more than it helps. If a divit occures near a valve it will most likely kill the flow. As for power I'm not sure what polishing is worth. Removing the ridges might help reduce carbon build up. I'd probably leave them alone.

Getting a 9" is a great idea, but good luck finding one in a junkyard; Ford hasn't made any in years, and the junkyards have been scoured by hotroders.

Nothing like a little geometry work and some welding

Do not get the heads polished like mirrors. As was mentioned, there needs to be some texture there for the intake charge properties to stay where they need to be. As long as the casting flash has been smoothed, that's about all you need in an intake runner.

I would leave the heads alone, they're making super power just like they come off the cnc machine A asp pulley is a good idea though!
