Default No oil pressure after rebuild.

I had rebuilt my engine and dont have any oil pressure after the rebuild .

.

I broke the oil sender taking the motor out and the engine now has a new one.

I took the valve cover off and its as dry as a county that doesn't sell alcohol.

The engine is a 3.905 bore, stock stroke with a 10/20R crank. Crower rods diamond pistons and melling pump with shims from Speed Inc for the Rollmaster timing set.

Maybe a core plug in the block was not replaced during cleanup??

it could be the oil pump O-ring.
it could be one of the 3 or 4 oil gallie plugs on the side of the engine. if these are out it will spit oil all over the floor.

or it could be the little plastic oil plug(dumbell) behind the read cover.

Had a friend with that same problem a couple months ago. He forgot to put that plug back on after rebuilding it.

Checklist? Assembly is the reverse order of disassembly.

Did you try to prime the oil pump? I had the same problem after my rebuild, 0 oil pressure. I pulled all my spark plugs and jack the back of the car up as far as it would go to submerge the oil pump. I cranked it over and it built pressure within a few seconds. Maybe you will get lucky.

Yes, it works like a charm.

Glad my pic helped. I was just adding a visual for LARRY01Z28's description of the "dumbell."

did you start it and not have oil pressure or did you just try to spin it over using the starter?

Combined it has probably ran for 3 minutes total. In about 5 burst. Oddly enough no valvetrain rattles but thats probably because it may still be pumping a psi or 3 somewhere even with an open gally.

I'm going to agree with everyone else. One of the galley plugs was probably not installed.

3 minutes is an awfully long time to run with no oil pressure.

I would be willing to bet its that damn dumbbell looking plug in the back of the motor. I went crazy looking for a oil pressure problem after my install. dropped the tranny and removed to rear cover, and there was a nice Dime sized hole bleeding out all my oil pressure. anyhow, 7 dollar part from the dealer, and another 10 to have it over nighted, I had it fixed the next day..

You're missing the plug in the front, fix that and you should be good to go. There's no way to install the rear dumbbell plug without removing the rear cover from the engine. Did you find it and you know it's not installed? Or are you just guessing? If you're only guessing, I'd install the front plug and turn the engine over with the starter with the coil packs unplugged and see if you have oil pressure. No sense in dropping the trans if that's not the problem.
