Default NOT Good! Need Help With Noise!!!

I think I cracked a valvespring today or have a bad lifter. I am hearing a rick rick rick rick sound from the driver side cylinder head. It sounds to me like someone excuse my french but the only thing that makes easy sense sound wise. It sounds like a person getting it on in a old springed rusty bed. This rick rick rick sound. Any thought on what it is? I dont want to drop a valve if it is a cracked spring. The Car is a stock 2000 Trans Am w/ 130,000 miles I just bought one week ago. Car has driven fine for about 100 miles then today the sound started happening. It for sure is on the valvetrain. I hope it isnt a valve hitting a piston but i do not know. Please Help!!!

take the 30min to pull the valve covers and check **** out, then you'll know, unless its a lifter or anything internal...

I am going to pull the valve cover today. I am hoping to find the problem. What are the odds the noise is a valve spring compared to a lifter?

With it being stock, the odds are stacked against you pretty good for it being a valve spring.

Check the oil on the dipstick for fine metal shavings/pieces.

Good luck.

Drained the oil two days ago and there was little metal shavings in it and no noise.

So, I just pulled the valve cover and no broken springs. What could the noise be? Lifter? Could it be the flex plate is cracked?

Id put my money on it being a lifter on its way out. Mine was making a very similar noise when the lifter went out on me.

There was Zero build up or depoists in the cylinder head valleys. Since the tranny is going out. I am woundering if it is the flex plate. (maybe cracked) The noise sounds like it would be from the back of the engine bay. So, I thought it was the number 7 cylinder. Drivers side last cylinder. Spring looked good and rocker looked good. I have multiple LS1 Engines in the garage. So, I hope it isnt the motor. I would rather not have to be doing engine swaps but I atleast have back ups. I know the tranny is toast, so I am hoping it is just something like that. I called my shop that does all my work and he was the first person to tell me it could be the flex plate. Just woundring if anyone else has had a problem like this?
