Default oil pump questions

what came in the cars with the LS6 block? my 98 has a newer crate, i ran the numbers and its a LS6 block with 241 heads. any knowledge on what came with it? i hear to change to a LS6 pump when you do a cam, but ive never seen below 40 psi, and iirc its around 50 while going down the highway. my motor has roughly 25k on it.

Yeah, it's the better pump not like the ones in the 98-00 cars.

When I do my cam swap, I will be keeping the stock pump. Be prepared to have a rush of people coming in here to say something like "zOMG! CHANGe thAt to PORTed pump OR youR motAr will die!"

I wouldn't worry about it, especially with that motor having low miles.

I would say this the LS6 ported is a great pump to have. Especially if your going big cam yes I would do the pump. Remembering one thing a stock pump is for stock equipment and while your bottom end is stock nothing from the cam up is.

I have a melling ho +18% am running a 235/241 615/615 no issues.

I just did a search on LS1Howto.com, and it appears the part number will be on the back of the pump.
