Default To those who have done a head swap.. am I getting ripped off?

So I went and bought a set of heads for my car, the dealership finally got all my gaskets/bolts in.
Right off of LS1 how to I ordered the whole list of what I need
- 16 Long "M-11" Headbolts PN 12560744
- 4 Short "M-11" Headbolts PN 12560745
- 10 "M-8" Headbolts PN 12558840 (PN might be for bag of 5)
- 2 Head gaskets PN 12558809(drivers side) and 12558810 (pass side)
- 2 AIR tube gaskets PN 12553617
- 1 EGR gasket PN 12553047
- 6 quarts of oil, new filter
- Water pump gaskets for 1998 model cars (PN 12559271 2 needed)
- Jug of dexcool compatible coolant (or save your old stuff)

Final price, just shy of $500.00 CAD that's more then I paid for the 243 heads!!!

Am I getting ripped off or is that right?

Head bolts are about $60, head gaskets around $80, Oil $30, Dexcool $12, Waterpump gaskets are reusable, but $12 if you have to get new ones, AIR and EGR come off.
That's in real dollars though. I'm unsure of the conversion rate.

Order the head bolt kit (12498545) and you should save some money! You'll need one of those kits per head. Get gasket kit number 12498544 and save some more money (that's the GM MLS gasket and will work well with your 243's and LS1 short-block).

I have both in stock for right at $100 plus shipping!

$500 CAD is about $460 USD.....that's alot of money for that short parts list! We could sell and ship them to Canada for a total under $200 I bet!

There are a lot of sponsors with good prices on this site(if such a thing exists for the GenIII-you may be convinced otherwise after comparing prices to GenI). SDPC and TS&P are at the top of my list. I've been buying parts from them for years and I don't hesitate to pick up the phone and order from them without bothering to compare prices from other vendors.

when i priced all this stuff yhrough the local dealer"long ago"it was all about what you have listed which is a rip off.....the first head swap i done was around half of what you have listed....

all from advance auto "prices may be a lil off now"
head gaskets fel pro "graphite" sealed great 25$x2
head bolt set 20$X2
all my other gaskets were reusable most of yours should be....i think i only paid 20 bucks for the timing set which had water pump gaskets...

now the last time really costed me...
cometics and arp fasteners make it an expensive *** job...

texas speed has a good deal on all the stuff you have listed contact them....

Quick question before I order these, do I need two gasket kits? or one?

One of those does it, as the kit comes with a pair of gaskets!

I bet the idiot behind the parts counter charged you for each individual bolt instead of a bolt kit. Probably over 200 just in bolts that way.

Yeah every car nut who lives in Canada, know the dealers will tear you a new hole here. I always get my parts from this site and just bring them back to canada tax free!

Im not shocked at all by the prices he was quoted. We have quite a few quotes that are pretty insane. Try 1700 bucks for an ls7 clutch. like 300 or so for a ls6 oil pump and the list goes on and on.
