Default scattered motor, new plans

scattered my motor the other night at 6700 rpm. wasnt too fun. i know this sounds crazy but the 2nd and 3rd rods from the front of the motor let loose and completely wiped the block. the rods took out a section from about the bottom of the motor mount down the side clear to the bottom of the pan, across the bottom and up the other side. its insane. i think if the heads werent on it, the block would be in half. but i need to know what i wanna do. i either want to build a iron block 408, or just get a stock ls1 block and fill it with forged internals and then spray like a 200-250 shot on it. what would u do?

370ci iron block and nitrous. For the money you'll spend on a forged crank, you can make more power with spray. Just my $.02

without a doubt I'd look to the 408 iron blocks for a great buget short-block. We stock tons of these things with different rod, piston & ring combos. I bet we have a setup ready for 200+ shots in stock & ready to roll. Let me know if we can help you out with one. We also stock 370s typically, but your within a few hundred bucks of the 408, you'd just about be crazy not to take the extra cubes for the little bit extra $$$$...

408 no doubt, damn the nitrous unless you already have it.

If you do already have it...oh well, I still say 408 lol.

408 all the way for best bang for the buck. We offer HKE precision racing engines if your looking for a built short or long block or can set you up with a rotating assembly if you prefer.

How many miles were on the block? The carnage is not typical for a high 11 second LS1.

I would do the 408 if you can afford it but then on a budget a 347 with a lot of spray would be fun.

wasnt spraying. we pulled the motor tonite, broke the block about 3 inches up on both sides and clear down both sides of the pan, 2 pistons disapeared, 3 rods were broken, and one bent about 10 degrees. it was basically heads and cam car, lt's, intake, car made around 400, but new setup will be higher compression, around 11.3:1 with a whole lotta n2o.

Spun bearing will not change PTV clearance. Sounds like the valves were floated and maybe started the disaster.
