ls1 oil pressure
Soo..i have 98 Z28...it is stock at the moment, with only full exhaust and LT's, and 71xxx miles...i live in Miami...pretty damn nasty heat down here. The deal is that in a regular hot day i star my car and the oil pressure is about 60-70 psi, when it gets hot is drops like about 40 or maybe 38 psi...today was one of those hotttttt days, and when i got to a red light my oil pressure dropped, to around 30 psi...the car make no wierd noises, and it drives perfectly fine.is this normal..should i be worried?

I'm no expert, so dont take my word for it, but:
I thought when the RPMs slow down, the pressure will lower because you're not asking too much from the motor. But, the more you accelerate, the more the RPMs raise up, the more the pressure builds (normal). And as for the heat, perhaps (if the heat affects the oil at all), it may be less viscous (thinner?) allowing for lower/easier pressures. Thats just a theory though from someone with no more experience, than liking to do his own work to his LS1. I see nothing wrong, but others may think differently..

texas is just as hot as it is there, maybe even more so on the humid side, and even at a red light it stays at 42ish, right past the 40 mark. it never goes below that for me. my car has 38k miles.

well the temp was right at 210..i guess it seems a little bit higher because of the angle of the pic..i've never had any over heating issues. i was just curious since i 've never seen the oil pressure so low, i dont think i drive the car more than a 100 miles a month...since im busy getting the rest of the parts i need for my set up..and i dont wanna mess it up before i finish it.
