To pollute or not to pollute?
Hi everybody, i think this is the first thread i`ve ever open in this forum, but i had been a huge fan of this site for at least 3 years...
I drive a 98 z28 A4 with full bolt ons and ls6 cam. but i wanna go a little bigger...
i have the chance to buy a ms3 or a polluter cam, but i`ve been reading all over this section and realized that sometimes bigger aint better. So here is the deal, what will you recommend me to do? Is there a smaller cam that will kick ***?
my mods are:
PaceSetter longtubes with X pipe TD
3.73 gears, planning to change it to 4.10
slp box lid with k&n filter
ls6 cam
ls6 ported oil pump
ls2 timechain
Custome tuned
and i just bought a t56 with spec3 because i simply love m6
i forgot to mention, its my daily drive, but since its about to become m6, it doesnt really matter =P
thanks a lot for your help, and again congratulations, you have a great forum here. And sorry if my english aint perfect, its my 2nd language
btw, this is my Z28

Polluter is too big for what you want. I agree with the above statement. Custom grind is always the way to go in my book. Of the shelf cams are good don't get me wrong, but if you are particular in the way you want it to behave, custom grind. Talk to Predator-Z or Pat-G on here and they will hook you up! FWIW, I would say a 228R would be in the neighborhood of what you are looking for.

Car looks good, and I agree with the custom cam advice.
Hey, something that made my car look 100000000 times better, wetsand your headlights to remove all the pitting thats turning them yellow, and polish them with Meguiars Plastix on a Mothers powerball or some other type of buffer...makes a world of difference in the way the car looks...completely gets rid of the yellowing, and then you can just periodically hit them with Plastix again by hand and they stay looking great.
Back on subject...look at the overlap numbers a LOT when deciding what cam you go with, even if it is a custom grind...as the overlap numbers come up, the higher you tend to need to idle the car in order for it to be a strong healthy idle...and sometimes it's difficult to deal with a high idle in an M6 car.

Its a good thing your swapping to an M6 if you're going with the 4.10's, I was about to say stay with the 3.73's on the A4. I agree with the custom grind, I am going the same route too with all the same mods you have. But between the two, the MS3 is a proven cam and the Poulluter puts up some big HP with the right heads. What abour heads, you might as well pull the trigger on that with all the work you'll be doin.

thanks a lot for taking the time to help me...
i have a question, perhaps i know the answere in my language, but in english i have no idea about what do you refer by custom grind... damn you "learn english with mickey mouse" educational program!!!
and im not planing to change my heads, maybe a little work on the stock ones, but for the moment, no swap planing.

Bigger is defiantely not always better. Take some time & checkout some of my engine dyno threads where we compare camshafts on the engine dyno. If you'd like we can help custom spec a camshaft to meet your goals. I think after you spend some time looking at my dyno data you'll see that a little bit smaller camshaft than what your considering will probably make you happier in the long run.
