Default G5X-2 P/V clearence question

I have a stock short block with stage two 5.3 liter heads by TEA. They are milled .010. Would this cam have enough P/V clearence??

You may get lucky but you have to check P/V for sure. The rule is stock heads only, but a X3 fits stock heads to. Notch your pistons and run my cam, or are you Sissy?

Are you sure that the X3 fits stock heads as well? What about on a 112 LSA?

I know that the X3 will fit with no milling and stock shortblock. I think the x2 should fit with the heads milled.

ONEBADWS6. I wanted to stay away from cutting valve reliefs. I don't think the cutting valve reliefs and used nitous would work good together. I could be wrong.

There are many factors that will determine your PTV. Valve size, milling, head gasket thickness, ect.

Pull any intake rocker/spring off, the front ones are the easiest to get to. With the piston at TDC, measure how much the valve "drops" into the cylinder before it hits the piston. if the amount of drop is more than ~200 thou, it will fit. If not, you will need to flycut.

What valvesprings are on the car?

Good luck. email or PM me if you need any help

Louis

Lou, this is Matt in Houston. I talked to you this afternoon. I will be measuring the valve drop, as we discussed, tomorrow morning and letting you know what I find. I'll also post my results for the guys here on the board. For those of you that don't know, I went with the G5X-3 112 LSA, and the PP Stage II LS6 heads with 59cc chambers.

Ok did a valve drop test today with the G5X-3 on 112 LSA, and PP Stage II heads with 59cc chambers. Valve drop was .231...I did not torque down the heads to spec when checking the drop, just snugged them down, so I could be a little off. This is with Fel-Pro gaskets set at stock thickness. I went ahead and finished building up the rest of the motor today, so hopefully she will be up and running by Saturday.

OK here are the cliff notes:

PP Stage II, 59cc chambers
Stock head gaskets
G5X-3 on 112 LSA
Valve drop was .231
DID NOT FLYCUT PISTONS!!!
Wish me luck

LS1 BU, let us know what your drop is. I have the same heads as you and have a GX-2 at my disposal. I was thinking about doing some back to back dyno testing of the TR230 and GX-2
