Default dual springs pros/cons. tell me which ones yall perfer

i am on the market for some dual springs and cant make up my mind. they need to fit in the stock seats without machining the heads. i can only find 5 that will work.

1. comp cam 921s (expensive but probably the best)
2. crane LS1 dual springs (cheaper but not sure on quality)
3. rev dual springs (havent heard anything on them)
4. patriot dual gold springs (too new and not sure yet)

let me know what yall think i should use. i need to buy some soon. i just got my new cam in and am not taking a chance on the 918s with the new motor. please help i cant make up my mind.

I'm running Isky 295D's, and they seem to be working fairly well. They work without machining but are not a true dual.

I just found this thread too:

what do you mean there not a true dual. are they a single spring with a damper? also are the rest of these springs true duals or do they also have dampers?

bout 350 for the whole kit; dual springs, tit. retainers, and spring seats. you'll need new vavle stem seals, you can get those from TR for 16 bucks. i dont know what kind of duration or the kinds of ramps your running but i'd spring for the 921's or comps.

If you have the money, go with the Comp 921s. If not, the Crane duals would be my next choice. I have used both on quite a few customer's car without any problems.

I've got Comp 987s which are a dual spring, and after 10K miles on a .608/.612 cam, I'm losing almost 50 hp in my upper RPMs from my springs going bad.....

Time, I didn't think the 987's were rated to go over .600 lift?

I have 987's but only a 224 XE-R cam, so far no problems with 6,000 miles. I may plan on changing them out sooner now.

The Comp 977s or 987s will not fit in the stock spring pocket. I personally would run the Comp 921 or Crane duals before the 977/987s anyways.

Ive been doing some research on the 987s and it looks like they are only good up to a .590 lift. Kinda pisses me off because I told TEA what size cam I was putting in and they still gave me these springs.

What's kind of strange is that it seems some of the older batches of 987's seem to be holding up a bit better than some of the newer ones with these aggressive XER cams. I have a Comp XER cam with about the same lift as you intake/exhaust and although I don't have that many miles on them I haven't experienced any float at all so far..... although honestly I don't completely trust them so they will be coming out when my heads are freshened up.

These are on a set of heads Jay at Absolute did for me over a year ago. I know he's recently this year had some problems with float on the 987's, but he even told me himself that some from the older batches seem to be holding up fine. I just thought this was unusual is all....

I am swapping out my 987s for 977s this winter (Running comp R lifters is a must with these springs and aggressive cam lobes)
