Default Cometic Head Gaskets?

What is the advantage of running cometic gaskets over the standard oem GM gaskets? Also when running a thinner/thicker head gasket how does that affect the compression?

Well, their advantage now is the Cometic has a recess molded into it to mate with the new deck that is formed by the top of the Darton sleeves.

I don't know if they're out yet, we got three of the first sets and will eval them next week.

Cometic is great for their flexibility. They can do any bore and thickness that you want. I have them and they are working beautifully so far. The fel pro or gm gaskets work great if that is the bore and thickness that is needed for your project.

They are available in sizes from .040 to .065. You have to order them, so you get what you want.

I have .027 cometic MLS. Other advantages....great strength-12x stronger than OEM as far as blowing under boost, resistant to greater heat, reusable, no clean-up/scraping that crap off when removing heads, increases compression and reduces quench area at the same time which makes the CR increase less prone to detonation (less octane sensitive), and if you need to change compression you can return to stock unlike milled heads.
