243's cam on LS6 vettes, 05-07 LS2 vettes, 05-06 GTOs, and even the new 5.3L trucks have 243 casting heads. 799's came on some later LS2 motors as well as the trucks. That should get you a pretty good vehicle base to start with.

Is that with stock valve springs, or aftermarket ones? I may just take that route with my new 6.0, for now.

The 799 heads are in fact an LS6 casting. They list part no. 12564825 for the 01-04 LS6 engines and the L33. The L33 takes its cylinder heads from the LS6. Originally developed for the Z06 Corvette, these heads improve airflow in and out of the engine. With their pent-roof combustions chambers and new flat top pistons (the pistons in other Gen III Vortec 5300s have a slight sump in the piston deck), the L33’s compression ratio increases from 9.5:1 to 9.9:1. This increase improves the engine’s volumetric efficiency yet still allows it to achieve full power with regular grade gasoline. They have a D shaped exhuast opening. The heads have a 65cc combustion chamber and a 210cc intake runner.(Silver05GTO 2007)

Yeah 799s are the virtually the same as 243s. The only upside to ls6 heads were the fact they had sodium filled valves on z06 vette heads. Otherwise as far as the head itself 243 and 799..same thing.

Anybody know what the 243's flow, and the comparison between the 241's and 243's?

I just picked up some 243's off an 5.3 truck, and was wondering if they were the same as the heads on the ZO6

I am sure there is a performance aspect to it all, but from what I have read it helps with a lighter valvetrain. I am thinking for the higher rpms the ls6 was a capable stock. I could be wrong. If so someone will correct me.

That's when you want the lighter valve train. The less weight the less wear over all on your lifters and so on. Set up with the correct springs it should be good to go. My cam if from Ed Curtis very aggressive lobes and I have the LS6 valves/Gaterman Ls1 lifters/comp 921 springs purrs like a kitty. My heads where done by AI and running 64CC chambers.
