Considering the crunch that you're in, try both and see which ones make the least noise.

The LS7 lifters seat is .050 higher in the lifter than in the stock LS1 lifter. This is going to require the shorter push rod (7.350).

They are designed as a drop in replacement and designed to use the 7.40s. However OP you need to measure. If you want me to guess for you, I say stick in a 8.55678 length

I seen a thread or sticky here or performance trucks that said the LS7 lifter was .050 taller than the stock LS7. Also seen where a lot of guys are running the 7.350 rod to get rid of some of the sewing machine noise.

I run a 7.425 with LS7 lifters. No "sewing machine" noise at all out of mine.

LS7 are stock replacement and do not require a pushrod length adjustment. The OP needs to measure or check with his pushrods and then make an assessment.

The LS7 lifters to seem to setup a bit taller than the OE lifters. While they are a direct replacement, if they set up taller, than you will need to adjust the pushrod length accordingly. Each combo is different and I would recommend purchasing a pushrod length checker for $20 and make sure you have the right pushrods in the motor. If you have both there, you can get a pretty decent measurement on preload by how many turns it takes from zero lash to where the rocker bolt is torqued down fully. You should see about a turn to turn and a quarter. Let me know if we can help!

While the physical height is different, from what I have read on the GM specifications the plunger is set to a different range so that the same pushrod is used. But I do agree that measuring it the best way to figure out what is required.

Heres a pic...LS7 on the left, LS1 on the right.

Look at where the plunger the push rods rests on on each...much higher on the LS7 = shorter push rod....UNLESS the LS7 needs more preload than the LS1 and that I am not sure of.

I agree with measuring but FWIW I have the same heads/lifters with a similar cam and my 7.4's are almost stock quiet......
