Default 7.0 camshaft swap into a 5.3

I have a 2007 7.0 camshaft that I want to run in an earlier 5.3 truck motor on SPRAY. Has anyone done this? It is going in a race car with a carb so no problems with FI issues. Also does anyone know the lobe separation for this cam?

theyre not compatable. the gen 4 cams have the sensor on the front of the camshaft and the gen3 reads cam signal from the back thats one of the main differences between the two platforms. it will open the valves as it should but you wont get any spark.

Isn't the LS7 cam a 1 bolt cam while the Gen 3's are 3 bolt? Think that's another reason it won't work.

LS7s are a 3 bolt cam IIRC, but they still dont have a provision for a rear cam sensor.

The LS6 one will work nicely..quite a few people do that.

When I re-build the 5.3l in my truck I'm thinking about putting a LS6 Cam in it with a set of 317 Heads..that should give it a decent amount of power and still be good as a DD.
