Default Questions for guys running 224/230 cam

What is the specs of your cam? I currently have a 224/230 581/592 114 lsa.

I was hoping to see some idle videos, some dyno numbers and such.

How much power did it increase from stock? How much power did you make? cam only or heads? any info on this cam would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if I should go ahead and put this cam in since I already have it, or if I should just go ahead and get a bigger cam, looking to make about 400rwhp on stock heads (99 ls1), and 100 shot on top.

Thanks in advance,

Lee

i bet that cam would idle and drive just fine after a good tune. with a good set of heads ,i would like to think you would have a very nice street/strip set up. try youtube to see if anyone has posted any videos on this cam or anything similar . i've seen everything from 220/220,TR224,TSP224,Tq3,GX51,2,and3 ...( like a Rocky movie ) and many more. good luck.

224/230 is a proven cam for LS1s. Good streetability and performance. Having a stalled A4, my dyno#'s are nothing to brag about. The car does get up and go tho! I have the Comp XER with PRC 2.5 LS6 heads.

I put that cam in my daily 2002 z28 about a month ago. It made 398rwhp/375rwt with the cam and headers. It drives pretty much like stock and the idle is pretty tame. I have a cutout to me it sounds perfect with an open cutout. It reallly brings otu the lope. But this cam is great. It really gave the car a very noticeable power increase

I ran it years ago on a nitrous motor. REALLY LOOSE rings and a 3800 nitrous rated TCI stall. Pretty streetable with great manners on a conservative tune. Had a 114+2 ground in. -1° overlap. Sounded really nice through a 4" exhaust. I have pics of the exhaust and a video somewhere. Probably on streetfire.

I have the Comp 224/230 xer cam, went 11.85 with it on a ls6 intake, and a crappy tune, we will see this year with a much better tune and a 92mm fast what she will do.

i have this comp cam in my 97 a4 vette w/arh headers tsp ls6 heads and ls6 intake consistently runs low 11.6@~117. has been as fast as 11.402 on a very cold day. its very strong right out of the hole w/yank 3600 and 3.42 gears. traction is a problem w/poor track conditions and mt drag radials. hp was 390 ish. 394 i think
