I would also like anybodys findings on this but i will add that straight weight motor oil will affect the pressure that lifter will handle and rpm also affects it, the less time lifter has to bleed,,oil pressure the less it will bleed.

If type of motor oil also effects this is there any real difference in 5w-30 vs 10w-30?

Since hot viscosity is the same i would say probably not, im talking straight 30 weieght versus 5 or 10w 30.

I had some collapse when I was using a 150 lb installed seat pressure spring with 1.8 rockers. So if you multiply 150*1.8, then divide by 1.7 you get the spring pressure needed for the lifter to see the same pressure with a 1.7 rocker. Its about 160 on the seat.

165# with 20/50 and oil pressure of 65lbs. with the Eaton lifter. Valving is diffrerent in the Delphi and I don't have that info. This testing was done for some marine cam profiles I did for a company developing tournament ski boat engines. So sustained rpm was around 4500 to 5500 rpm.

Chris, thanks for the info.

I should be able to run ~140 to 145# and be ok with a stock 1.7 ration?

Thanks
