Default Simple intake swap to possble dissaster! Need some help!

Well started as a simple ls6 intake swap. Got everything back together fired it up and immediately heard a Loud Spuratic knocking coming from the rear of the driver side head(#7??). then smelled burning coolant.. So me and a buddy of mine pull the heads and i obviously dropped some kind of metal in the intake and it wreaked havoc on the cylinder head and the piston. Pulled tiny chunks of metal out of the cylinder but the cylinder itself looks OK the piston has some tiny nicks in it. You can still see cross hatches in the the cylinder. My question is, is the bottom end ok?? not to concerned about the heads as i have some 243s to go on. Any info or tips would be awesome pics coming asap

Here are the pics..

It was burning coolant and had a loud sparratic knock at idle, didnt sound like a Rod Bearing to me, it was in the upper end. It sounded like Piston Slap, and obviously something was in that Cylinder.
Oil is nice and normal, pressure was normal at cold idle, no metal flakes or anything like that anywhere, just this and burning coolant.
I think the Head may be trashed, 243's are goin inplace so that's no prob.

change the oil immediately because coolant eats bearings. Clean the carbon off the pistons and check for cracks in the piston if none deburr the piston so there are no sharp edges on the piston where the metal made contact because the sharp edges can cause detonation.

Thanks for the reply. im about to try and drain the entire block. Whats the best way to deburr the piston without crap going everywhere?

Anyone else have any ideas here?
Tryin to figure out why there was coolant being burnt.
The Magnet pulled out chunks of metal from that cylinder so what ever was in there it got crushed.

was coolant steam/smoke actually coming from the tail pipes? my guess if thats the case that whatever entered the cylinder put a hair line crack in the head maybe at a spot where there is a coolant jacket and coolant entered that way.

Clean the piston up, clean up the deck and button her up. I bet you will be fine, Id take the opportunity to put head studs in though.

Maybe you guys were just smelling the coolant being burned off from when/if you took the coolant cross over tubes off the heads?

Na Tubes didnt come off, it was just a straight up Intake Swap. I wasnt there for that part, just came over to check it out when it started sounding like a Midget beating on it with a Hammer.

was the intake clearanced for the coolant crossover tubes? if not then the intake didnt seat, cause the LS6 intake uses coolant block offs in the rear... just sayin
