That's probably a fantastic cam. Most people consider that a moderate cam, and I think most could agree a cam in that range is preferrable for a mostly street car. The LSA will also help determine it's characteristics.. Do you know the LSA of that cam? I'm willing to bet it's a 112LSA cam. Also, who makes it?

the LSA he recommended was 110 with 3*......i explained that i don't really care about going fast on the highway, but i want more of a torque monster that sounds amazing.....the only racing i ever do is 1/8 mile, other than that i drive like an old lady.....i don't know alot about cams, with what i have learned i believe his recommendation is perfect.....it is made by comp cams on LSL lobes, so i'm thinking it would be best to go with dual springs.....can't wait to hear this thing chopping in my driveway

I wouldn't stress PTV clearance on that cam, BUUUUT it's always something you want to check. Especially when you get some milled heads with higher compression. Just do some searching, and lots of reading on here.

To have the lightest moving mass in the valvetrain is the best. Duals are a bit more forgiving and safe, but properly installed beehives at correct height will outperform due to less negative harmonics.

I specd a 228/234 for my friends 2000 C5. It idles good, has great mid range, and at WOT it is strong. That is a great cam. I have a 233/239, it's more of a race cam, a little rough on the idle, a little stronger at high rpm.
Your 227 should be perfect.
