Default I have a 99 trans am.. whats the best all around cam?

I have a 99 trans am and its alll basically stock.. i have longtubes y pipe basic bolt ons .I have a lifter tapping .. so i figured while i was in there why not throw a cam in it... .. So whats a good all around cam for my stock heads and lower end... keep in mind i want to keep it fuel efficient.. nothing radicle. Let e know thanks

It has a light lope to it, 2* overlap. No the LS6 springs will not work right. You need either Comp beehive 918 or Pac 1518 at correct height.

So, i need the cam... so $400 give or take, springs... $200 give or take and lifters .. i guess a new set of gm lifters would work?$125 plus head gaskets.. what kinda power gains with i see? something similar to a Z06 5.7

Do a port and valve job on your heads (since they are off) from AI and you'll make in excess of 400rwhp

if your mileage is not too high you can use your current lifters.inspect them closely for any wear.

Id replace the lifter trays just for safety, after all, they only keep the lifters from turning on the cam. For around $30 you cant beat the safety factor.

yeah I would have the heads done while they are off,just call TSP and get one of there cam packages

I would just build this car with ls3 heads and a cam if i was wanting tons of power but this is my driver... Im building a 68 camaro ls2 D1 procharged to go fast lol . This is just my nice efficant, reliable, driver lol I dont want to put too much in her just wanted to freshen her up while i was in there.

You can't fit LS3 heads on a LS1 with stockish bore. Still I would work on the heads while they are off. Or at leat a set of fresh 243/799

Yeah i remember seeing that bore size probelm on a thread on here... Well maybe if i come across a low mile set of 243s i might slap them on.

A 3/4 race cam, jk, lol. It will be hard to beat a 220-224 cam.

If you're not sure of exactly what you're looking for then just get a Thunder Racing TR224 cam and call it a day.

Gotta add pushrods to that list also. Not too sure why you're listing head gaskets? You will need a gasket kit for the front of the motor, plus a new bolt for your balancer.
