6.0 buildup
Alright guys, I have a serious question because I don't know much about the Gen III small block. I am wanting to put a modern engine/transmission into a nova. I am planning on using a T56, but I will use a 4L60E if the cost is much less, etc.
My question: The LS1 is expensive, so i figure the iron block 6.0 is a more reliable, cheaper alternative. I have the means to take the PCM and all accessories from a wrecked truck. I want to build this engine to be fairly powerful, but economical at the same time. I realize that with this type of engine, I will probably not be able to reliably run 11's like the car is able to now. What have you all found to be one of the best stroker kits/part combos for this engine? I'm shooting for 460+ at the flywheel. Retaining fuel injection and having a car I can simply start and drive is very important to me. I have no problem running 11:1 cr either. Please help, I want to begin drawing up the build soon so that I can get started around May.

This will get you more reliable power than you're looking for at a GREAT price.

if I get to do an LS1 based swap into my nova, I'm looking for 10's with a pretty mild engine, auto and 20+ mpg on the highway. I'd be looking at a 6.0 truck engine to start with too.
I think you'd also have room for a truck intake, which should net you higher HP #'s.
If I put the engine (bolt ons) from my SS into my nova, w/ an auto/ converter, I'd be looking at mid/low 11's right now.

That 409 with some good heads and cam would get you easily into a low 11 second quarter. Now as for 20 mpg on an auto, that ain't happenin! I average about 14 mpg with a 422 auto 4l60e. More power means more gas. The m6 is the only way to bring the gas milage up, and then you have to deal with clutch issues.
