What cam with stock 799s to reach 420ish RWHP?
Im finally starting the rebuilding process on my wife's 00 WS.6 after it dropped a valve, and just bought some stock 799s to go back on it.
How much should i mill the heads to reach 11:1 with a GM MLS gasket, and what cam should i run to reach about 420rwhp? Im not looking for a custom grind, just a solid off the shelf cam that can get me there? Maybe something in the high 22x/22x, or low 23x/23x range. The car had TSP's 231/237 and made 392rwhp with full bolt ons.
The car will have the following mods:
Lid, stock MAF, Ported TB, LS6 Intake, 799s, Patriot or PRC Duals, U/D Pulley, SLP Long tubes, High flow cats, Magnaflow Catback, LS7 Clutch (Aluminum F/W), Tick Master, RPM Level V T56(Viper spec, cryo'd, Micropolished, etc), Stock 10 bolt w/3.42s.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Depending on the dyno it should hit your goal fairly easily. All the big players here make cams that can let you hit your goal (thunder, TSP, EPS, Futral). If you want to go outside the box some, look at the Cam Motion grinds. I'm running one and am very pleased with it.

I made 421 and 388 with a 244/248 cam and shaved .030 241's. It's probably more cam than you were going to want, but that was also an old XE profile. EPS or TSP can spec you something that you could atleast drive and still have usable power that is not all top end.

i think this cam would be the best with stock 243/799 heads if your goal is 420rwhp:

228/232 .600/.601 on 112+4. I made 424rwhp/398rwtq with this cam with stock 243's, LS6 intake, and through a Moser 9". Made great power, 360ftlbs @ 3500rpm and stayed above 400hp from 4300rpm to 6700.

I know it doesn't help you now, but I'm putting together a similar budget combination with 799 heads. Milled 799 heads (59cc), comp 236/242 cam on xer lobes, ls6 intake, 1 7/8th kooks headers, and custom 3"-4" y pipe with cutout. I don't know what my power was before the heads and cam, but i was trapping 114/115 mph (6 speed, ls7 clutch, fab'ed 9" w/ 4.11 gears) in 500-1000 DA. I should have her all buttoned up by the end of this month/early April. I'm hoping to hit 420whp or a little more. Don't really care about the dyno numbers though...i'd like to see 123-125mph traps in good DA.
