Default SS HT cam + 853 heads?

Hey guys, I am thinking after I put an LS6 intake on my car to possibly throw a cam in it. I was leaning toward the SS HT from New Era, since everyone says it makes great power under the curve. The only thing is, all the cars I have seen are running some sort of ported heads. What kind of power could I expect out of a setup like this?

Properly installed and tuned, you should squeeze ~45>50 rwhp at peak with an excellent undercurve.

I have the larger SS with the 853 heads and put the power in my sig. Should be close to 400 hp.

Interesting. If that setup could yield me 400whp I would be ecstatic. I will have to look into that now.

Yeah I have read through that before. Definitely sounds like a cam that will not disappoint. Anyway man, you ever come out to any of the club meets or anything around here? I know you are fairly local since you have actually been to New Era, and race at NYIRP/Empire.

I looked through a million threads and that 440 hp ssht thread seems the numbers are off when an etp 215 headed car only made 450. I was going to get this cam but lobe design is a bit dated. Check and see if the cam motion 228 232 .612 .612 is the same design that is another good option.

Club meets?

Anyway the SS HT won't be disappointing.

Yeah, have you ever checked out WNYFbody? They have some good sized club meets here and there, and have pretty much daily meets over the summer at random places.

Do you even know who makes the lobes or have any info on them at all our are you just blowing **** out of your ***? Those lobes happen to be Ed Curtis designed lobes and are deffinately not outdated.

I was being sarcastic. I wouldn't ever go to an wnyfbody meet because I wouldn't ever want to associate myself with someone like JNJ. Nothing like stealing an entire forum.

Exactly, smells like bullshit to me. Pretty sure Ed's cam lobes are proprietary so I'm not sure how one could consider them "dated".

You are right on, they are proprietary lobes. I know because I just received one of his custom grind cams which was ground by COMP, but the lobes used are Ed's lobes.

Not blowing nothing out of no where and yes compared to LSL lobes and the tamer EPS lobes they are dated as in older. The lobes are from Cam Motion that is where the cam is ground from. Like i said i looked at this cam because of the valve events are exactly what i was looking for on my 346.

Trex was so back in the day 2003-2004 cool, There so much better latest and greatest cams out now. out dated stuff doesn't RUN anymore. The engine knows this, its not stupid

Logical doesn't associate your self with a forum full of local people because of 1 person.

or the fact that I own/operate the forum now and its a COMPLETELY different group of people than it was in 2006 or whenever the **** hit the fan... JnJ doesn't come to meets and posts once every 6 months. I mean yeah who would ever want to come out to an event like this?

English much? It's perfectly logical to not associate yourself with a group because of certain individuals.

I wasn't aware that you own it now. However, I will say that the whole incident was a bunch of bullshit. He's still a lying shady douchebag in my book for stealing it from the original owner and pretending like it was an accident and then not giving it back...

Eh all that **** happened before i was around, i heard both sides of the story and have came to the conclusion that i don't really care. I try to get along with everyone and don't identify with one "group". That being said, we do have a lot of fun stuff going on over the course of the summer incl the spring cookout which had ~75 people last year, hoping to be even bigger this season. Feel free to stop out.

Ok, now back to Justin's cam thread!
