Default Hot Cam? Just need some help.

I'm looking to throw a Hot Cam kit in my GTO soon. I know thers better cams out there but I know the hot cam is reliable and small enough in a DD to get the sound and minor perf. bump I'm looking for. My question is, does Texas Speed make anything comparable that I can still use my stock converter with and not change anything but cam, springs, and tune with? Hopefully a TSP rep. will chime in on this. Thanks guys.

Yeah I know, Ive been meaning to call them. I shot them an email today at lunch since I work from 7-6 and we cant be on our phone and I took a brief lunch. Ive been loking at their stuff since I bought the Goat and saw them run a couple times at Memphis at the LSX Shootout. I just like getting on here and horsing around and getting real-world guys info also. Like I said I was hoping, a TSP guy would pop on here.

a cam on a 115 or 116 lsa is not going to sound near as good as the hot cam on a 112 lsa i have the hot cam in my 01 camaro a4 and i love it for what it is you get a good power increase a great sound and you can run the stock converter and with a good tune it drives like a stock cam the only down fall to the hot cam is it make you want more lol but if you are mostly after the sound and something to drive everyday without spending big buck or changing springs every 20k them its a good cam for you

Im not concerned so much about the size or power gain, its a daily driver that I still have payments on lol. Just want something that sounds good when i pull up at a cruise or out and about. I dont NEED a big cam so therefore, Im not getting a big one. Just like dodson55 said, I dont want to change springs again for a while. Thanks for the input guys. Any of you guys have any numbers as far as increase at the wheels with just a cam swap, CAI, LT's, and a good tune out of a auto car? Like I said, not concerned with big power just curious as to what I might expect. Thanks.

well sounding good and working well witht he stock stall might not be the easiest thing to accomplish. I think the 224 on 112 would be a solid bet.

I have a 224/224 cam from texas speed in my truck and it lopes pretty good, but not that great. But I have a hot cam in my car and it cuts up like a monster. Everyone thinks its way bigger than it is. If you want sound, the hot cam is the way to go.

Well what kind of characteristics can I expect with the hot cam using a stock stall? I'm assuming the vacuum is still ok?

My friend had my car before I did and he put the cam in while it still had a stock stall. The car ran ok but it would try to die sometimes at redlights if you didn't shift to neutral. The torque converter also wouldn't lock up because of the increased misfire detections caused by the cam and you had to give it a little throttle to crank it. If you can live with that till you can get it tuned you'll be fine. It drove me nuts though, but it only took a few adjustments with the hptuners to get it right. Long story short, it'll still be driveable, just not optimum.

Ok cool. Ill get it tuned ASAP after I get it stuffed in there. After last night it looks like itll be put off a while or might not happedn at all. Slammed him into a ******* guard rail at a gas pump. Turned too sharp when I was pullin away from it and rammed the pass. door and quarter and hit the tire and tweaked the rear end a good half inch. **** happens, $500 deductible. Just hoping it doesnt get totaled, but maybe Im just thinking its worse than what it really is. Im gonna start a new post in the GTO sectin and post pictures if I can figure out how lol. Itll be titled "War Wounds" lol.
