Default Dual Valve Springs and Cam Break in Question

I just installed a new comp cam and need to install the .675 lift dual springs. The installation guide says to remove the inner spring from the dual valve spring set up and install. It then says to run the engine 30 minutes and afterwards reinstall the inner spring. Is this required?

If so, can I use the stock yellow 243 springs for break in and the install the duals?

The break in is for the spings not the cam. I don't know about the .675 break in but it sounds odd to have to pull them off again what a pain in the ***. I have the .650 lift spings and it was just a few heat cycles to break in.

Default Springs

Comp Cam claims it is to develop the appropriate wear pattern for the lifters.

I dont think that is for a hydraulic roller app like ours. I just read the same thing, since i got my EPS cam.

I would just run the motor through a couple of heat cycles before proceeding to beat it like it owes you money.

And I would NOT run yellow springs for this.

Ah, . Put inners and outters in and do several heat cycles then your good to go. If that were true id get different springs. I was callin bs on comp's suggestions not what you were sayin, btw.

Those are instructions for flat tappet cams, not rollers.

i think it is different for who ever you ask i was always told on rollers to just run it easy for a couple miles.
