Default Temp too low

The temp on my ls1 is always at the first quarter of the temp gauge, sometimes only 1/2 way up the first quarter. it never goes past that. Does this mean my T-stat is stuck open, or is that how it's supposed to run?

when it's getting good airflow and the engine is at low RPM, it sits 1/2 way up before the first quarter. when i drive hard or in traffic, it's at the first quarter.

is it throwing a related code? you might have someone look at it with efilive or hptuners or something just to verify the guage itself isn't malfunctioning.

Mine is pretty much the same way. Only goes 3/8 way up in 90+ degree weather in traffic. I thought the gauge was broke till I ran it without coolant and it went up quick. I am glad it runs cool but takes forever to get heat in winter/cool weather.

well i mean, the car is also running a bit rich. i imagine running cold all the time has something to do with that, unless these cars are supposed to run that cold.

my old LT1 was always between the 1st quarter and middle.

Is that the way LS1s are supposed to be, or should i get a new t-stat?

A stock LS1 with a stock thermostat should stay around 198-210F at operating temp.

You might have a bad thermostat, or you might have a bad temperature sensor. The gauges aren't 100% but they should read a little less than the 210F mark when warm.

How hot is the air coming out vents with the heater on ? It should be hot enough that with it on as hot as the controls go , You get too hot in about 2 min with the temp outside around 50deg far .

Ok. well I guess i'll just go ahead and replace the t-stat. it's only 12 bucks or whatever.

I'm not gonna lie, it could be a little hotter. Also it takes a long time to warm up.
