224r or 228r? Single pac springs or prc doubles?
Im trying to decide between the 224r and the 228r. I am leaning towards the 224r right now because I think it will match my 3400 stall pretty good and I won't have to rev it as high as the 228r. And pluss it is supose to make a little more low end torque right? Also I figure it will be a little bit easier on my springs with the 224r.
Now to my spring decision. I am leaning pretty hard towards the newer Prc .650 double springs, but from what I hear the double spring is harder on the rest of the valvetrain right? I really like the prc's extra reliability in case it would break somehow and how long the new prc's are saposed to last. Of course a single spring would be easier on the rest of my valvetrain though?
Let me know what you guys think.

After two different treads on the 228r I thought you had made your decision! One about springs that will last with the 228 and the other one on the push rods you will need. But anyway I have the 228r on 112 lsa and I think it works perfect even with my small 2800 stall converter. Pulls like crazy pretty much through the every gear
+1 for 228r
+1 for 228r

You guys say the singles are good, but I hate hearing about springs breaking and how quickly they need replaced. The prc's are saposed to go 40k plus easy and I won't have to worry about dropping a valve if it would somehow break.

They're right you don't NEED duals, but if you want that sleep better feelin'
then get em' !!! Also the single pattern cams work great especially if you have
LTs, ORY, and a cutout, but if you're runnin' full exhaust then I'd consider
what 02WS6 said with a split pattern EPS 222/226 or 226/230

I am agreeing about getting the 228r again, but I am to ****. I have to get the doubles just for the comfort lol. I will be driving around thinking about springs breaking if I don't

Yea I will have plenty of room with the 228r .588 and prc .650 duals. One of the pac singles is good to .650 too. I wonder if I would have to change valve stem seals with the double springs because of the smaller inner spring?

New question. Ok on tsp's site when you go to the camshaft pacage with springs you pick your cam 228r and it says on 112 or 114 beside it, but than the box below gives you options from 110lsa-114. My question is if I cliick the box 111 lsa below will my 228r come with 111 lsa?

YES ... if you get a double spring kit it should come with new valve guide seals that will work with the springs. I know on my LS6, the stock OEM valve guide seals are designed to be used with beehive springs. Also, you might need new spring seats if using different guide seals, as the spring seat is built into the OEM guide seals on some LS engines ... it is on my LS6.
