Default Narrowed down to 2 cams, need input from here...

here are the specs from thunder racing:

#1) TR TruTorq Cam Level 2 - 223/230 .609/.604 115 LSA 1800-6500 rpm power band
#2) TR TruTorq Cam Level 4 - 227/234 .616/.614 115 LSA 2200-6500 rpm power band

I have 2000 LS1 M6. Going with 4.10 gears, Monster stage 2 clutch, Hooker 1 3/4" LT headers, Hooker ORY pipe, and the Flowmaster exhaust on it now. Staying NA for now with stock 241 heads. Might upgrade to 243 heads one day but that is not for sure. I am kind of looking for a happy medium in all categories here. I want a choppy idle, but want some good power and torque. It is not a DD so a little loss in drivability is not a big deal to me.

From what I have researched, the Level 4 cam leaves my intake/exhaust valves open a little longer, but I lose 400 rpm off my power band. I won't be drag racing this much, maybe 2-3 test and tunes each year at the local strip but that is it.

im no cam spert but i will go with #2 level 4 227/234 .616/.614 have you look into Texas Speed Torquer V2 232/234 .595"/.598" with a 114 lsa (standard smother idle) 1800-6400 RPM Power Band

The smaller cam will be more stop and go driver friendly..I.E. letting the clutch
out just above an idle...where as the 2nd choice will meet your choppy idle
desire and still work decent because of the 4.10s

ditto on the torquer v2 but i would go with a 112lsa it will bring your power in a little sooner. it will also have a nice choppy idle. personally i think you should really give texas speed a call and get their recommendation on a cam for what you are looking to do with the car.

go with the bigger of the 2. still a fairly small cam with regard to overlap.

should work great with those mods listed. i don't think either one would offer much challenge with off-idle takeoffs. they are small cams on a wide lsa.

Given that I am a newbie to cams, I may be looking at the wrong ones. I looked up the Torquer V2. Specs are 232/234 .595"/.598" 112LSA

It looks like I longer duration with the V2 while staying under .600" which I have heard is better to do. But what kind of torque can I get out of this cam especially at a lower rpm range. I definitely want the "put you in the back of your seat" feeling. But want to maximize my power as much as possible.

you could also use the cam in my sig, comp xr281hr 228/230 571/573 112lsa. it's very streetable and makes good power up to 6200 rpm.

i'm looking into about the same for my build...it would be interesting to see dyno numbers on both the level 4 and the v2 in a similar setup....

EPS 226/234 114. If it has to be one of your two then go with the bigger one.

Thanks for all the input. I have checked out some cams you guys suggested. Spoke to TS today and was pointed in the direction of the V3 instead of the V2 with a 111LSA. Will let you guys know what I will go with after I look up some more info on other cams.

I would stay away from LSK lobes (TV3 intake) on a DD car. Too harsh and unnecessary.

id go with option 2... especially since you have the 4.10s in it, and the larger cam would do a little more with heads later if you go that way. good luck with your build

Go with option 2, you will never miss the 400 rpm and the power band is a general guide

Thanks for all the help guys!!! I have my decision narrowed down to option 2. I am still considering the Torquer V3 (231/234 .643"/.598" 111LSA) from Texas Speed. I like the duration numbers a little better on the TruTorque Lvl 4. But I LOVE the LSA on the V3, plus it seems it'd be a little more torquier.
