What is your Rev Limiter set at?
My limiter is set at 6600 currently. I have the TR230 with a cam card spec of 110.2lsa. My valvetrain consists of 918's, Hardened pushrods, and tit. retainers. My bottom end is stock. I am trying to decide if it is worth it to take the limiter up a bit and risk a little more pressure on the components. I know this cam would like to be at 6800 or so but is it worth it. I keep thinking if it aint broke dont fix it. Thanks.

I have the TR 230/224 cam + GTP 5.3 S2 Heads, I have stock bottom end except for Diamond pistons and ARP rod bolts.
My rev limiter is set at 7200 RPM and I shift at 6800 right now. 6800 shift point is the sweet spot for my setup. Any lower or any higher and I lose a little ET.

i would turn a stock ls1 bottom end more than 6800 rpms without understanding it is on borrowed time. most will agree with me there. even with all the valvetrane work you can put in, you are still working with a mass produced unbalanced motor. saying that, my limitor is set at 6900 rpms.

Have you ever dynoed your car? Setup up your limits according to where that TR230 peaks for ya.
At the very least, bump it up to 6800.

6800 is where I am having Allan Futral set mine when he comes over for the Atlanta sections tuning day plan on shifting at 6600. I put 6000-8000 miles a year on mine so by the time it ever does let go I hope the forged internal fund is ready to go

I currently have mine set at 6800 and I gotta up it because my hp is still going up at that point. Probly gonna try it at 7300 and see how the powerband looks then.

the only thing I've changed is comp cam R lifters, trick flow chromoly push rods, stock rockers, comp cams springs and ti retainers, and manley pro flo valves. can the stock cam, rockers and heads take a RPM increase? t

I would set it up around 6800-6900, and shift around 6600-6700 ... remember too that our tachs have a slight lag in the bottom gears, so you might be shifting a tad higher then you think.
I personally wouldn't put it over 7,000, but I would much rather lose a race then have my crank fly out the front of my car.
