5.3 heads vs ls1 heads
so im making my list of mods for spring and i wanna do some minor head work for this year. my friend has a set of 5.3 heads i could buy for cheap. so my question is, do i mill/port either the 5.3 heads or my ls1 heads? i wanna bump the compression up to atleast 11 to 1 or at most 11.5 to 1. which would work better. im gonna get a ls6 intake, full exhaust (lt, true duals, no cats), and run 4.10 gears. i have a lid and k&n right now.

if you want to increae compression as well as flow do yourself a favo and get some ls6 heads...
if you dont wanna do that, then stick with the ls1 heads...they have bigger valves than the 5.3 heads,
the 5.3 heads are only worth it if you upgrade the valves and get them cnc ported

What about ported 5.3 heads vs. stock ls1?

They're cheaper than the ls6 ported, but what's the hp number comparison?

If you plan on spending any money on heads, do yourself a favor and get the best performers you can afford. Or just have your stock heads milled and get a custom grind cam. Might as well get a custom grind with all the supporting parts. Have the person spec your supporting parts for cam. Instead of trying to mix and match off the shelf items and guessing.
