Default Oh no, knocking noise from drive train.

Drove car yesterday and a loud ticking noise started. It got really loud when throttle is applied. My air fuel meter was going crazy. It sounds like a loud sewing machine. It sounds like it is coming from the drivers side valve cover. Any ideas on what it might be. Just got car back from heads and cam install a couple of weeks ago.

Is it idling bad?

You might have a broken spring, it could be many things. I'd get it checked out.

If your oil pressure is going up and down at idle then it's a spun bearing but I doubt that's your problem.

Well if the noise just apperared you need to check it out ASAP.
Have you taken the valve cover off & inspected inside?
Make sure nothing came loose or have a broken spring.

I have tuning and the car was running fine. Oil pressure is fine. The ticking noise is WAY louder than the normal sewing machine sound. I plan to have it checked out soon. The car idiling fine. What ever it is, my air/fuel guage is going haywire.

I'd first check to see if all plugs are in tight. I'd then check the header bolts, and check and make sure no exhaust leaks are present. Those are the simplest solutions. Next, pull the valve covers. Check for bent pushrods, loose rockers, or broken valvesprings. I just went through this problem and it turned out to be a rocker arm bolthole was stripped, and the bolt had backed out. I had to insert a helicoil.

Whatever the case is, I would NOT drive it until you have inspected the valvesprings. It is highly possible it could cause extreme damage to pistons, and render the car not drivable. Is the car misfiring (flashing ses), or does it seem down on power?

No codes at all. The car does seem to be down just a little on power. It will be towed to the shop as soon as I call them today.
