Default car doesnt sound cammed even though its a large cam

so i just got done putting my cam in my car last week, it was a bullet cams 234/238 .650/.650 on a 112 lsa. now i would have thought that a cam that big would have sounded pretty nasty especially on that lsa however the car started right up like normal and idled almost like stock except it was around 950-1000 rpms, the car ran fine and put down 425 to the wheels thru and auto on stock heads and manifolds so its obviously running strong. any idea why it doesnt sound cammed at all? it is still idling around that 1000 mark, if the idle is lowered to 650ish (tune not finished) is it going to sound better?

It will sound different at 650 but it may not run that great down there. I was going to have mine lowered but I was told it may stall down that low. Maybe it will sound different with headers, I know my car sounded alot different with headers. What kind of mufffler do you have?

Stock sounding is the way to go. No one would ever 'hear' it coming .
As said cutout or true duals and it shoud have more of the lopey sound

i have kooks longtubes and true duals, i meant to put mani as in intake mani not exhaust manifolds, my bad. and it doesnt bother me that much that it sounds stockish since the car is often ran on the street and its easier to down play im just curious. could pushrod length be a factor?

Drop the idle down and it'll sound like it has a cam. 1000 rpm is pretty high to be idling.

Actually I'm kind of envious of that factory cam sound, its great for grudge night. Your walking softly and carrying a big stick, literally!! Appreciate it.

I'd rather it sound dead stock and run like a prostocker... Than sound like a beast and put up par performance.

I blame the high idle for the lack of lope. With that size cam, and that LSA, you should have a pretty decent lope. Can you get it dropped down to about 800-850 range? My wife's EPS 227/230 -113+1 and even my 224/228- 114 are clearly cammed. They idle right around there when warmed up.

ECS has mine @ 950/1000 on a 235/615/114 LSA. It has a decent choppy idle and 421 to the wheels. American Racing Headers/Corsa Extreme/4.10 gears/Veraram/complete cam package. It loads up every once in a while and drops to around 600 @ idle, which has stalled it out on rare occasions. Overall it sounds decent, and the 4.10's really keep it pulling strong through 4th gear. NT05R's 285/40/18 hook moderately well. Will have ECS finish it off with 60cc heads/102Fast/102 throttle body...I like the numbers on your grind...sounds like it should have a strong lope to it.

my exact set up is stock bottom end 346, the previously stated cam, hand ported 241s, trick flow dual springs, kooks long tubes, custom true duals, slp intake and lid, ported tb, ported manifold plenum, midwest 3600 stall, 3.42s. car made 425/434 and he told me to bring it back the next time i could because he hadnt even touched the timing that much. wen it goes back and he pulls some timing and drops the idle down to around 800 itll sound more agressive. btw my buddys c6 is on almost the same set up as you (g3x6 cam, trickflow 225s, fast 102/102, veraram, lg long tubes, z06 exhaust, and 4.10s) tuned by ECS he put down 520 and has gone mid 10s on 275 hoosier drag radials
