Correct way to run rockers with TFS heads?
Some people are shimming the stock rockers. Some using yella terras.
I read shimming stock rockers is a no no. I hear the yella terras are a hit or miss and sometimes cause valve float. For the love of god what is the proper way to run these heads?

I'm also in the same boat. Tfs 220's. I ordered shims, but I'm pretty sure I've got bronze guides, and apparently this is going to cause issues. Id rather not drop the cash on aftermarket rockers that are hit or miss.. What's the correct way to do this?

Have you guys consulted tfs? When in doubt, ask the maker.

It's ALL in the setup. What is your cam profile? TFS heads have stout closed/open spring pressures that handle most cam profiles out there nowadays. Like others have said, anything north of .590+ lift with stock rockers becomes a durability issue with bronze guides. Aftermarket FULL roller design rocker arms (setup properly) will be the best setup to insure long life durability. Use the shims supplied with the YT rockers for proper "wipe pattern" in most cases. Valve float is due to something in the parts selection not being right for the desired setup. The current 346 that I am doing for a customer right now is using TFS 215 heads (160/430 pressures), Comp LSL lobe cam, YT rocker arms, and Manley 3/8s pushrods. So far so good, expect PTV.

I have TFS 225's on my 383, I ran them with Harland sharp rockers, and I had valve float from 5500 all the way up. I swapped to YT ultralights/LS3 hollow stem valves, picked up 40hp/30tq.
Also, the shop that does my work has a 440 ci LSX car there with TFS 245's on it with the same HS rockers as me, and it has the same problem.
Both of these cars have monster cams though.
When I talked to TEA about it, they said either do the guides or the light YT rockers, also LS3 valves if you really want to spin it really fast

Got an email back from TEA. They dont recomend shimming. Also TFS does not recomend it either or the warranty on your heads will not be honored. The trickflows should have a roller tipper rocker on them.
Back to the drawing board for me. I doubt ill spend 3k for heads.
